Plastic is a serious problem for the environment and more and more voices are crying out to limit its use. In Spain, we recycled a total of 616,282 tons of plastic packaging in our homes in 2020, which means an average of 13.1 kilos of packaging per inhabitant.
What can we do at home to reduce plastic and bet on a more environmentally friendly lifestyle?
- – Reusable bag or cart for the super
A good advice when it comes to shopping at the supermarket is to bring the shopping cart. Try to leave in the car or carry a bag or backpack for daily use for occasional minor purchases. - – Buy in bulk
Make purchases in neighborhood shops and try to buy seasonal fruit and vegetables in markets without plastic packaging. It is advisable to buy bulk when possible. - – Reuse home plastic
The plastic container or bag can be used for product storage or other utilities. - – Avoid straws and plastic utensils
Goodbye to plastic straws, if you prefer to use them and throw them away, unless they are made of paper. In the kitchen and to perform other household tasks you can also avoid plastic. - – Tweezers of wooden clothing
If you have to replace the clamps to lay clothes, choose wooden clamps. - – Avoid using plastic bottled liquids
You can bet on reusable water bottles or thermal canteens for children.
