The corrugated cardboard industry further reduces the carbon footprint

Further reduction of carbon footprint by 2021 by the European corrugated cardboard industry.

Thanks to the continuous joint efforts of the European corrugated cardboard industry and its paper suppliers, the carbon footprint of corrugated cardboard has once again
been substantially reduced over the last three years, FEFCO announces in a press release.
The European average carbon footprint associated with manufacturing corrugated cardboard for cardboard boxes, using 2021 data, stands at 491 kg of fossil CO2 equivalent per tonne of corrugated cardboard packaging produced, improving on the 2018 figure of 538 kg CO2e/t. These data cover the packaging's entire life cycle.
As FEFCO details in its statement, the calculation used the European environmental database of FEFCO and CCB (CEPI-Containerboard), updated to 2021, and a methodology validated through an independent peer review conducted by IFEU (Institute for Energy and Environmental Research Heidelberg GmbH, Heilderberg, Germany).

In FxSanmarti We are proud to strengthen that statistic with our impact 0 policy, helping to reduce the total carbon footprint of the packaged products that our customers place on the market.
