Plastic is a material present in our day-to-day life; it fulfills some functions that help solve problems we face in everyday life. However, the way plastics are produced, used and discarded is not economically cost-effective and harms the environment.
Europe is in favour of a new tax on plastic packaging waste.

Tax on plastic packaging
The Ministry for the Ecological Transition declared in June that control and a new tax is the best tool for combating environmental problems and change harmful behaviors. To this end, a law will be enacted with the aim of reducing the generation of all waste in the country by 15 per cent by 2030 from 2010 levels.
It has put on the table a new tax to reduce plastic waste which foresees an annual collection of 724 million euros, and which now begins to be processed. If the deadlines were accelerated, the rule would be ready in the first half of 2021.
Our country will join the fight against plastic waste initiated a couple of years ago by the EU and incorporates the two plastic waste directives that the European Union adopted in 2018 and 2019.
Spain will set by law the veto on the sale of single-use plastic objects such as cutlery and straws. Some of the measures with which to contribute to the overall fight against this pollution are also intended.

What will the packaging of the future be like?
More and more studies show a growing interest of buyers in Recyclable and degradable packagingand for those who incorporate qualities that lengthen the life of products. In this line, the corrugated cardboard boxes offer an important alternative for their versatility and ability to produce in the most different formats and sizes.
Another trend that is gaining ground is that of intelligent packaging - which, for example, informs the consumer about the state of its content or when it is necessary to replace it - and interactive packaging, which allows personalization or connection with social networks.
