Dog owners know they need to take their dogs out several times a day. During these outings, as well as relieving themselves, the animals enjoy some recreation and exercise. However, most pets spend most of their time indoors, feeling bored. It is therefore a good idea for owners to think of activities that allow their pets to have fun at home too, because a bored dog is not a happy dog.
We have to keep in mind that one of the main characteristics of dogs is their enormous olfactory capacity. And making him play using this feature is a good way to have them entertained.

And this is where the stakes come in. cardboard boxes. One of the games we can prepare is related to olfactory capacities and cardboard boxes. First we have to prepare a few boxes of different sizes and textures. They can range from egg boxes to boxes that have contained other objects. The porosity of the cardboard allows everything we put inside a dog to smell it.
As we prepare the boxes, we need to select foods the animals enjoy and put small pieces in some of the boxes. These could be small pieces of meat or biscuits, provided they are foods our dog likes. Once we have filled the boxes, we distribute them around the house and encourage our pet to find them. The reward for the search will be getting to eat whatever it finds.
If we arrange the cardboard boxes well and repeat the activity from time to time, the animal will enjoy being active, and we can also teach it to be a good sniffer dog. One detail to consider is covering all the boxes in the same color and including both boxes with food and empty boxes. This way, the animal has to rely solely on its sense of smell rather than sight. From time to time, we can choose a box that has held scented materials such as cologne, so the animal learns to distinguish them. Before long, our pet will know that taking part in this game means tasty food.
