In the face of the crisis caused by Covid19 coronavirus, the Spanish government has decreed the suspension of all non-essential activities until April 9. Until that day the workers of the companies affected by the decree will have a paid permit that they will have to recover under the conditions that they agree with their companies.
This decree, however, does not affect companies whose production is deemed necessary for daily life to function properly during the population-wide lockdown. This includes all companies involved in food production and maintaining essential services such as electricity, water and gas.
However, behind these companies is an equally essential industry to which Royal Decree-Law 10/2020 of 29 March 2020 also does not apply.
We are referring, among others, to the entire industry producing food packaging, cardboard boxes for transport, or chemical products needed by the food industry, such as preservatives and stabilizers.
