Cardboard boxes, tape and glue for a battle of epic proportions!!!
Welcome to Boxwars, the strange medieval-inspired sport that gives children and adults the opportunity to participate in an epic battle. Participants gather to create a complete range of battle arts using nothing more than recycled cardboard and packaging material.
An idea originated from a small group of friends on social networks who love to create armor with cardboardhas become a global phenomenon, with teams in Europe, Australia, the United States and Japan.
The initial creators of Boxwars, Hoss and Ross Koger, call themselves Boxwares Supreme Overlords, and the first battle took place on January 26, 2002 in Melbourne, Australia.
According to their website (www.boxwars.net) Boxwars aims to: "Show consumers the true potential of discarded paper and paperboard. This mission is what we consider war. After all, the only good reason for war is Boxwar!"
One notable factor is that there are no winners. In Boxwars no one wins the battles. The goal of the war is to build something with cardboard and destroy it.

Boxwars has "professionalized" the art of building and designing with corrugated cardboard. Armours built for the initial battles have become buildings, tanks, castles and countless sculptures and architectures of all kinds.

Each edition of Boxwars is framed in a party setting. All battles are accompanied by music festivals and the "guerrero" must be willing to travel to accompany his army in battles.
