Corrugated Cardboard. A constantly evolving product

The early days of the corrugated cardboard industry The protagonists were pioneers whose manufacturing processes were manual. All tools, including machinery, were handmade while dreaming of faster production methods. In 1890, Scotsman Robert Gair invented the pre-cut cardboard box; flat pieces made in large quantities that became boxes.

Since then, corrugated cardboard has not stopped evolving. The overlapping of papers with the aim of obtaining a material with unique properties, evolved towards an adaptation in forms and measures to the product for which it was intended. Every product in your box.

With the creation and redesign of new types of boxes, corrugated cardboard began a new era, the era of Packaging.

With the emergence of new formats, the boxes evolved in their composition and resistance. Laminated cardboard, silicone-coated boxes with the capacity to transport liquids, die cuttings, self-assembly boxes and many other variations in corrugated cardboard packaging were designed and produced according to market needs.

The possibility of designing and printing the cardboard packaging in which the products were transported and delivered to consumers would give added value at a very low cost. In addition to advertising the company during the transport process, the products can be presented in a packaging that enhances and gives value to the content.

Currently the focus of the corrugated cardboard industry is on sustainability and recycling. It is said that a product is sustainable when it does not alter the environment. To be sustainable is not to stop producingbut to do so with the consumption of suitable raw materials by avoiding generating waste and observing natural recycling cycles.

There is a wide variety of shapes and sizes of cardboard boxes. The vast majority of corrugated cardboard boxes have 3 basic components in their structure: a first layer of plain paper, a second layer of corrugated paper and a third layer of smooth character that allows printing on screen printing.

The corrugated cardboard, as the main component of cardboard boxes, it supplies a great demand for all kinds of products and thanks to the collective awareness about the environment, its use is increasing more every day. More and more people are recycling and getting the cardboard recycled.

Today all layers are made up of recycled paper or specialized tree plantations. The wood used in the manufacture of cardboard boxes comes from commercial forest plantations and not from natural forests. The main sources are eucalyptus trees that have fulfilled the optimal growth cycle for pulp production.
