According to a traditional Jewish saying, charity should always be anonymous. Otherwise, it is vanity. The value of this saying is clear. It seeks to reaffirm that helping others—especially those who need it most—should be done to satisfy our best charitable instincts rather than feed our vanity. The valuable lesson of this saying helped shape powerful, wise anonymous philanthropists. It has passed down through the centuries, encouraging people of various religious traditions to discreetly express the best of themselves.
On the other hand, we live in exceptional times. We are going through a global humanitarian emergency that requires high doses of solidarity. It is therefore necessary to regain pride in the act of giving, not only as an added value to the act itself, but also to encourage others similar to follow the same path, the path of solidarity.
In this regard, Fxsanmartí wants to share with all of you the letter of thanks that Caritas has sent us, through its President Carles Oller. Caritas is the official Confederation of charitable and social organizations of the Catholic Church in Spain, was created in 1947, and its mission is to welcome and work with people in poverty and need to be protagonists of their own reintegration into society.
We want to continue among all of us to support those who are most in need, to help build a more supportive world.
