Corrugated cardboard, of course

What packaging material guarantees economic benefits, protects products on their journey through the supply chain and is made from renewable resources?

The corrugated cardboard, of course.

FEFCO, the European Federation of Corrugated Cardboard, has presented some interesting information about the advantages that this material offers to producers, retailers, consumers and society at large.

From an economic perspective, corrugated cardboard maximises added value for customers, reduces supply chain costs and plays an important role in the European economy. The corrugated cardboard industry has 686 plants across Europe producing more than 42 billion square metres, an area similar to that of Switzerland. It is estimated that 70% of consumer goods circulating across the continent are protected by corrugated cardboard packaging.

According to a study commissioned by the Association of the German corrugated cardboard industry, 68% of consumers make their purchase decisions at the point of sale. There, corrugated cardboard containers become a powerful commercial agent because the emotional value of images is a decisive factor in the purchase. On the other hand, the ability to adapt corrugated cardboard containers and their printing possibilities make it the ideal material for retail. FEFCO.
