A corrugated cardboard factory has two main processes that are carried out by two different machines.
The first is the “corrugator”, which must be continuously fed with paper reels and is responsible for manufacturing corrugated cardboard sheets to fit our boxes. Once we have the cardboard sheets, they need to be printed, folded, glued and adjusted as necessary to turn them into a functional cardboard box. For this, we use the second machine, called a “folder”.
Corrugator
The corrugator, which is the most important machine, feeds on paper coils and transforms them into cardboard sheets. The production is permanently monitored so that the process can be controlled at all times and has all the requirements required by our quality control.
The corrugating machines are responsible for making the appropriate cardboard sheets to make any desired packaging model to measure. Cardboard sheets are made from several plain and wavy paper layers alternating, which makes them very resistant to impacts and practically indeformable.
Made of layers, the plates alternate the corrugated inner paper with the plain outer paper, which provides a great mechanical resistance to the cardboard box.
The Corrugated cardboard sheets may be of a single wall (formed with two smooth papers and one wavy interior), of double wall (with three smooth and two wavy papers) and triple wall (manufactured with five smooth and three wavy papers), thus progressively increasing its resistance. Box folding machine
Cardboard sheet gluing and folding machines have adjustable structures to improve the machine's functions and adjust to the needs of each customer.
The corrugated cardboard box gluing/folding machine includes three parts. Feeding paper, glue and fold, and finally counting and stacking.
The design of the glue and fold of the box is essential when making each cardboard box. Boxes that need to support more weight, usually have more folds and use cardboard sheets with more layers. Cardboard boxes for low-weight products can be more delicate, with more elaborate and attractive designs for the consumer.
